Bio - Mick Turner
Athletic Trainer
Although primarily regarded for his work in the professional sports sphere and his rugby league background – enjoying numerous Challenge Cup and Grand Final successes as Head of Strength and Conditioning with Wigan Warriors plus World Cup and 4 nation duties with both Wales and Scotland – during the past 15 years as an S&C coach, Mick has also helped shape the career of International athletes from the fields of athletics, football, MMA, wrestling, boxing, tennis, and cricket.
Prior to this, he enjoyed active service with the Royal Marines and their principles of hard work and discipline still form the bedrock of his coaching ethos…so much so, he acted as a fitness consultant to UK Special Forces in a unique role in 2019, advising on injury prevention strategies and training techniques transferrable from the world of elite sports to the military.
Although his name and reputation derive from his work with professional sports teams and athletes, Mick’s fervently passionate about nurturing and developing young talent. The amount of young players he’s worked with now breaking into the Wigan Warriors first team from the Academy speaks volumes not only of his ability but also his firm belief that having the correct guidance, discipline, training and encouragement during their formative years can help them fulfil not just their potential in their chosen sporting field but also give them a solid foundation they can carry with them for the rest of their life.
